The National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM)and theFederation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan (FTUU) have strengthened their trade union cooperation through the signing of a Cooperation Agreement for the period 2026–2031.

The document was signed on 5 September at the Trade Unions House by Igor Zubcu, President of CNSM, and Kudratilla Rafikov, President of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan (FTUU). The Agreement provides for the development of the partnership between the two trade union organizations and the coordination of actions aimed at protecting the rights and interests of workers, as well as improving the living and working conditions of trade union members.

The Agreement establishes several priority areas of cooperation, including the development of trade union organizations and the recruitment of new members, the socio-economic and legal protection of trade union members, occupational safety and health, training and capacity building of trade union officials, as well as the promotion of employment.

The document also provides for cooperation in areas such as culture, sports and tourism, the organization of health and rehabilitation programmes for trade union members, activities of women’s and youth trade union structures, as well as the improvement of labour legislation and the strengthening of social protection.

Within the framework of the partnership, the two parties will exchange information on labour legislation, social protection and other areas of mutual interest. They will also exchange experience regarding strategies and approaches to collective bargaining and the conclusion of agreements with public authorities and employers’ organizations.

The National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM)and the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan also intend to jointly organize round tables, training sessions, seminars, conferences and other activities in the priority areas of cooperation, as well as to develop and implement joint projects.

An important aspect of the Agreement is the strengthening of cooperation between CNSM member organizations and the member organizations of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan, including between their territorial and sectoral structures.

The document is expected to contribute to the development of friendly and cooperative relations between the trade union movements of the Republic of Moldova and Uzbekistan, based on mutual respect, solidarity and the protection of workers’ rights.

During the meeting, representatives of the two organizations exchanged views on the situation in their respective countries, the activities of the trade union movement, as well as the priorities and objectives established for the current period. The dialogue highlighted their common interest in strengthening trade union organizations and intensifying cooperation to protect the rights and interests of workers.

At the same time, in recognition of their contribution to the development and strengthening of trade union cooperation, distinctions were presented to the leaders of the two organizations.

The signing of the Agreement reaffirmed the commitment of the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM) and the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan to developing and strengthening their cooperation, based on solidarity, the exchange of experience and joint action to defend the rights and interests of workers.

The Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan was established in 1990, is affiliated with the International Trade Union Confederation, and brings together more than 8 million trade union members.
