What rights do you have in the workplace? Where can you find useful information about careers, employment and youth participation? What is the role of a trade union organisation at the workplace level, and why is it important to be actively involved when it comes to your own professional future?

Young people attending the 8th edition of the Youth Festival, held in Chișinău today, 15 August, are finding answers to these and other questions. The event brings together young people, youth organisations, public institutions and partners promoting youth participation and involvement in society.

Among the participants is the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM), together with representatives of national-branch trade union centres, who are present at the festival to engage directly with young people in discussions about their rights and opportunities in the world of work.

The event is organised by the National Youth Council of Moldova (CNTM) in the context of International Youth Day and provides a space for information, dialogue and interaction dedicated to the younger generation.

For CNSM, participation in the Youth Festival is an opportunity to engage more closely with young people and discuss issues that matter to them: their first job, working conditions, workers’ rights and responsibilities, career opportunities, as well as the role of trade unions in defending and promoting workers’ rights.

At the CNSM stand, young people can engage in discussions with specialists from the Confederation and national-branch trade union centres, ask questions and take part in interactive activities designed to help them better understand their workplace rights.

The discussions aim to provide young people with practical information and demonstrate that, from the very beginning of their careers, it is important to know labour legislation, understand where they can seek support, and participate in decisions that affect their professional lives.

Through its participation in the Youth Festival, CNSM reaffirms that young people are important partners in social dialogue and in building a fairer, safer and more inclusive world of work.

The involvement of young people in the trade union movement is essential for developing strong, representative organisations that are connected to the realities and aspirations of the new generation.

A good start to professional life means not only finding a job, but also knowing your rights, having the confidence to defend them, and being involved in decisions that shape your future.

The activity is part of a series of initiatives carried out under the “Caravan of Youth Workplace Rights”, launched on 13 August 2026 by the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM) in partnership with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Moldova.
