During the discussions, Igor Zubcu emphasised the importance of this dialogue, noting that the meeting represented a valuable opportunity to strengthen cooperation, particularly in the field of the social and economic protection of workers who are trade union members. At the same time, the CNSM President highlighted the Confederation’s openness to the exchange of experience and best practices in social dialogue, collective bargaining, and the promotion of workers’ rights.
The trade union leader also presented CNSM’s efforts in the consultation and negotiation process on the minimum wage, the results achieved in recent years through dialogue with social partners, and the objective of implementing the provisions of the EU Directive on adequate minimum wages.
“The National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova consistently promotes decent work, guided by the core principles of social peace and social justice. Through effective social dialogue and institutional cooperation, we focus on achieving tangible improvements in the social and economic situation of employees who are trade union members in the Republic of Moldova,” stated Igor Zubcu.
His Excellency Myles Geiran underlined the contribution of trade unions to ensuring fair working conditions and compliance with international labour standards, while also stressing the importance of the active involvement of social partners in reform processes and European integration. In this context, the Irish diplomat appreciated the efforts of the authorities and civil society in the Republic of Moldova to align with European standards in the fields of labour, social protection, and social dialogue, noting that Ireland’s experience may serve as a relevant example for strengthening effective, transparent, and inclusive social dialogue.
The parties also discussed the strategic role of the trade union movement in the European path of the Republic of Moldova, as well as the importance of respecting international labour standards and strengthening social partnership as key elements for sustainable development and social cohesion.
