Today, August 25, Igor Zubcu, President of the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM), held a meeting with Kemal Özkan, Assistant General Secretary of the IndustriALL Global Union – an international trade union organization representing the interests of workers in key industrial sectors worldwide.
Margareta Strestian, President of the Trade Union Federation of Workers in the Chemical Industry and Energy Resources of Moldova (FSCRE), also participated in the discussions. The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between CNSM and IndustriALL, exchanging experiences in defending workers’ rights, and the need to reinforce the trade union movement amid current economic and social challenges.
Igor Zubcu presented the main priorities of the trade union movement in the Republic of Moldova, emphasizing the importance of increasing the minimum wage, expanding collective bargaining, developing trade union training and leadership preparation, as well as promoting the trade union agenda within the context of Moldova’s European Union accession process.
In turn, Kemal Özkan appreciated CNSM’s efforts in protecting employees’ rights, highlighting the importance of strengthening social dialogue and international cooperation. The official underlined the crucial role of the trade union movement in the European integration process and stressed the need to intensify experience exchange and trade union solidarity, reaffirming IndustriALL’s support for CNSM and branch federations in promoting workers’ interests.
The agenda of the Assistant General Secretary of IndustriALL’s visit to our country included meetings with CNSM leadership, presidents of national-branch trade union centers, as well as a dialogue with FSCRE Council members. The discussions addressed current employee issues, identifying solutions to strengthen social dialogue and expand international cooperation.
The working visit of Kemal Özkan, made at the invitation of FSCRE, strengthens the partnership relations between CNSM and IndustriALL and reaffirms the common commitment to promote the rights and interests of workers in the Republic of Moldova within the framework of the international trade union movement.
