During the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference, held in Geneva, Switzerland, Igor Zubcu, President of the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM), met with Oliver Röpke, Director of the Bureau for Workers’ Activities (ACTRAV) of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
The discussions focused on current developments in the labour market and the role of trade unions in promoting decent work, strengthening democracy at the workplace, and protecting the rights and interests of workers.
A key topic of the meeting was the development of constructive and effective social dialogue between the social partners as an essential instrument for preventing and resolving labour disputes, as well as for identifying sustainable solutions to the challenges facing workers.
Igor Zubcu highlighted the Confederation’s efforts to strengthen the trade union movement and promote collective bargaining, emphasizing the importance of cooperation with the International Labour Organization in aligning national legislation and practice with international labour standards and strengthening social dialogue in the Republic of Moldova.
The parties reaffirmed their willingness to continue their cooperation in strengthening the capacity of trade union organizations and further developing social dialogue. They also underscored the importance of respecting freedom of association, promoting collective bargaining, and ensuring the active participation of workers in decision-making processes affecting them.
The meeting reaffirmed the strong cooperation between the CNSM and the ILO Bureau for Workers’ Activities (ACTRAV), as well as their shared commitment to promoting social justice, fundamental principles and rights at work, and genuine social dialogue for the benefit of workers and trade union members.
