The National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM) and the Labor Institute, with the support of the Danish Trade Union Development Agency (DTDA), launched today, April 9, a new edition of the Trade Union School of Moldova. The trainees are 34 trainees representing 17 national and branch trade union centers.

The launch event was attended by the leadership of the CNSM, presidents of the national-branch trade union centers, representatives of the Labor Institute, DTDA, as well as graduates of previous editions of the Trade Union School of Moldova.

According to CNSM President Igor Zubcu, this innovative educational project is adapted to the current requirements of the trade union movement and European standards of trade union training, aimed at supporting young trade union leaders with potential to successfully implement projects with impact at the unit level, in the primary trade union organizations, in the branches they represent.

Over the course of four training sessions this year, the trainees – together with their trainers – will explore key issues such as trade union rights, structures and management; strategies for motivating trade union members; social partnership; institutional communication; occupational health and safety; and trade union leadership. The program will conclude on October 24, when the trainees will present the projects they have developed as part of the Trade Union School of Moldova.

The Trade Union School of Moldova is an educational project that aims to develop the skills and knowledge of active trade union leaders and members, the overall objective of the School is to strengthen primary trade union organizations in order to defend and promote the rights of employees, trade union members.

The Trade Union School of Moldova is a project implemented since 2012, initially developed with the support of the Austrian Development Agency, the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions (ÖGB), the Austrian Coordination Office for Technical Cooperation, the Austrian Embassy in Chisinau.

From 2012 to date, 202 participants have been trained at the Moldovan Trade Union School.
