On November 3, 2025, consultations were held between representatives of the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM)and the National Confederation of Employers of the Republic of Moldova (CNPM), dedicated to reviewing the minimum wage for enterprises in the real sector of the national economy.

The draft prepared by the unions provides that, starting January 1, 2026, the minimum wage in the real sector should be set at MDL 8,050 per month. This amount is proposed to implement the benchmark set by EU Directive 2022/2041 on adequate minimum wages and represents 50% of the forecasted average monthly wage for the current year, estimated at MDL 16,100.
During the meeting, CNSM President Igor Zubcureiterated that the minimum wage must ensure a decent standard of living for workers, cover at least the subsistence minimum for an adult and a child, and contribute to the calculation of at least a minimum retirement pension.
It was agreed that CNPM would consult its members on the proposal to ensure broad consensus among social partners before signing the final document.
The meeting also addressed other topics of mutual interest to employers and workers, aimed at strengthening social dialogue in the Republic of Moldova.
Through this initiative, the parties reaffirm their joint commitment to promoting constructive social dialogue and balancing the interests of workers and businesses, with the goal of establishing a fair, predictable, and sustainable wage system in the Republic of Moldova.
