The Confederal Board of CNSM discussed a series of important issues during the meeting on June 26, 2025 Members of the Confederal Board of the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM) met today, June 26, in a regular session to discuss several issues concerning the activities of the trade union movement in the Republic of Moldova.
According to the agenda, the meeting covered CNSM’s proposals for the activity plan of the National Commission for Consultations and Collective Bargaining for the second half of 2025, the CNSM’s activity plan for the same period, the statistical report on the training of CNSM staff and union activists in 2024, as well as other organizational matters.
The members of the Confederal Board approved CNSM’s proposals to the activity plan of the National Commission for Consultations and Collective Bargaining for the second half of 2025. These proposals address several important topics, including the reconsideration of the minimum wage, compliance with collective agreements and collective labor contracts, the situation regarding occupational safety and health, and the establishment of a one-time allowance for young specialists.
The CNSM activity plan for the second half of 2025, approved by the Confederal Board members, outlines actions aimed at preparing issues for discussion at the CNSM General Council meetings, preparing topics for examination at Confederal Board sessions, collaboration with the Government of the Republic of Moldova, the National Confederation of Employers of Moldova, the National Commission for Consultations and Collective Bargaining, the State Labor Inspectorate, the National Employment Agency, parliamentary committees, and other bodies, as well as cooperation with international trade union organizations.
The participants approved the statistical report on the training of CNSM staff and union activists in 2024. In this regard, CNSM recommends that national-branch trade union centers focus their activities on effectively training leaders and activists of union structures at all levels, in accordance with CNSM’s Trade Union Education Concept and the CNSM Strategy for 2022-2027.
Throughout 2024, CNSM, together with national-branch trade union centers and the Labor Institute, conducted training and development activities for union staff and activists, in line with the CNSM Strategy for 2022-2027, the Annual Plan for Trade Union Training and Research for 2024, and the Trade Union Education Concept.
According to statistical reports presented by the national-branch trade union centers, during 2024, 14,510 leaders and activists from union structures were trained, representing an increase of 1,288 persons compared to 2023.
Members of the Confederal Board were informed about the termination of the CNSM representatives’ mandates in the Florești and Strășeni districts and the confirmation of new CNSM representatives for these areas.
Thus, Valeriu Furdui, President of the Territorial Council of the Trade Union Federation of Workers in Commerce, Public Catering, Consumer Cooperation, Services, Restaurants, and Hotels of the Republic of Moldova “SindLUCAS” (Florești district), and Ion Zgardan, coordinator for Strășeni of the CSRT associated with Chișinău, Trade Union Federation of Education and Science of the Republic of Moldova (Strășeni district), have been confirmed as CNSM representatives in their respective territories.
The Confederal Board decided to postpone the 7th Spartakiad of the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova to 2026 instead of the initially planned period of September 26–28, 2025. Further information will be communicated later.
During the meeting, Viorel Braga, General Director of the Labor Institute, presented the educational project titled “First Aid in Employee Protection and Safety – Essential Skills and Competencies for Employees and Employers in the Workplace,” which was approved by the members of the CNSM Confederal Board.
It is reminded that the Confederal Board is the governing body of CNSM between sessions of the General Council. The Confederal Board defines the Confederation’s positions on current national and international trade union issues and implements the resolutions and decisions of the Congress and General Council.
