During his recent working visit to Austria, Igor Zubcu, President of the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM), held a meeting with Wolfgang Katzian, President of the Austrian Trade Union Federation (ÖGB) and President of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC).
The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between trade unions in the Republic of Moldova and Austria, as well as on promoting social dialogue.
The main topics addressed during the meeting included ways to enhance cooperation between CNSM and ÖGB, particularly through the exchange of experiences and best practices in the field of workers’ rights protection.
The importance of constructive social dialogue among trade unions, employers, and governments was also emphasized, as a means to ensure fair working conditions and social protection for workers.
As part of the visit, the CNSM President also held talks with Roland Pichler, Deputy Director General of AUVA – the Austrian social insurance institution for occupational risks. AUVA’s mission includes the prevention of workplace accidents and occupational diseases, the provision of medical care, rehabilitation, financial compensation, and research in the field of occupational safety and health (OSH). The institution provides protection for over 3.3 million employees and 1.4 million pupils and students in Austria.
These meetings underscored CNSM’s strong commitment to strengthening international partnerships and actively advocating for the protection of the fundamental rights of workers in the Republic of Moldova.
