The general objective of the project is to contribute to increasing the awareness and information of young people in the districts of the Republic of Moldova on the Sustainable Development Goals, with a focus on SDG 8 “decent work and growth”. Through this project, the CNSM aims to contribute to increasing civic activism among young trade unionists and to increasing their interest in sustainable development and participation in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.

With the support of CNSM trainers, young people will be able to develop their own initiatives to help achieve SDG 8, will be familiar with the provisions and values of all 17 SDGs and, at the same time, will be able to develop youth networks and launch various local initiatives through which they will cooperate to solve the problems they face in communities.

Within the project, an online 4-hour information course will be organized on the Zoom platform, which will later be multiplied to 10 webinars. Young people will discuss the problems they face at the territorial level. They will present their views on how to achieve the provisions of SDG 8 in the Republic of Moldova. At the same time, the participants will discuss the role of trade unions in promoting Decent Work, the actions of the CNSM Youth Commission in promoting SDG 8, will find out how to negotiate and what the Individual Employment Contract and the Collective Labor Agreement should provide, and will analyze the situation of young people on the labor market in the context of the pandemic crisis.

We specify that SDG No. 8 “Decent work and growth” means promoting sustained, open and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and ensuring decent jobs for all.

The Sustainable Development Goals were formulated at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, held in Rio de Janeiro in 2012. The aim was to develop a set of universal targets that address the most persistent environmental, political and economic challenges facing the world.

In September 2015, the Republic of Moldova, together with 192 other UN Member States, committed themselves to implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by adopting the Declaration of the Sustainable Development Summit, which took place in New York. The 2030 Agenda aims to achieve what was initiated under the Millennium Development Goals, with the main goal of eradicating poverty by 2030 and ensuring sustainable development worldwide.
